2005 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

In this long, classic Napa Valley vintage, we took a very small quantity of the ripest of our Cabernet Sauvignon from Abreu Vineyard and fermented it separately in brand new French oak barrels. While our original intent was to blend this wine, the resulting single barrel of Cabernet Sauvignon was so impressive on its own that we decided to bottle it separately. The intense blue-black fruit character is enhanced by oodles of toasty, spicy oak notes. The wine has deep, rich baked fruit and cassis character, great structure, and a long finish with hints of dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and caramel. Our first commercial release of this fabled variety, and surely not the last!
